April 19 03 - "I could see you were a man of distinction" Hello darlings! I had a fantastic weekend. I spent Friday night w. dan and elgin. We played "Pretty Pretty Princess". fuck we're dorks. it's this stupid game aimed at eight year olds. you spin an arrow and move a piece and pick up pieces of jewelery and the person to get all their pieces first, is the pretty pretty princess.... haha... I won and now am a pretty, pretty princess.... Then Dan and I watched the Anniversary Party. I wanted to see it because Alan Cumming (from the Cabaret revival) is in it. It was pretty good. Though a bit on the sad side. Yay for abortions and overdoses! Actually when the overdose scene came along, it was pretty rough for me. The memories of the call I got when my Dad overdosed all came flooding back.... anyway, on saturday I hitched to Nanaimo to finally meet Darcy. We'd been chatting for a year so it was high time to do it. We had oodles of fun. talking and chilling and watching hockey and drinking beer. I felt so butch. haha.... I met some of his friends.... It's funny cause John and Nicole asked if I knew Becky, Rachel and Ryan and I sooo did. We all said the same thing about PA too... "The lake is nice" small town connections... hrmmm

Darcys house is amazing. Perhaps a touch on the grandiose side for three people.... But it his these 30 foot high ceilings in the living room that look over the ocean.

After everyone was gone, we laid on the couch and talked and talked and talked. We drank the bottle of Veuve Clicquot that I'd been saving since september. It was amazing. So light, and subtley flavoured. It was more like a sensation in your mouth than an actual flavour.

mmmmmm

then it was off to bed

Sunday morning came and Darcy and I lounged around his house. He made these amazing muchroom scrambled eggs. We kind of meandered around the house, listening to music, cleaning up and chilling. We listened to some Margaret Cho in his uber-cold room. Listened to some Vinyl Cafe in that amazing living room of his.

Then I came home. Cleaned up the fucking catastrophe that had been building all week. What kind of house allows four coats to be left on, around and under the kitchen table???? anyway, got that taken care of. Then Seth and Dan came over and we watched The Wall. What an amazing movie. Which makes sense, since it's an amazing album. I'm glad we watched it here, because the sound just totally adds to the experience. I think I have to own it now....

So that's it for my goodweekend.... Susan and I are going for coffee afterschool... so I should go shower and all that jazz so I can actually make it to school.

April 12 03 - "la la la" - Sun and warmth have a massive effect on the way I am. It must have to do w. my leonine nature and being ruled by the sun. I spent my weekend going for coffee. Friday I went out w. Abram 9a net friend from Vancouver, who I met for the first time). We sat in the sun and talked for a good long while. Sealions and the foster care system as an extension of the residential school era were among the topics. It was pretty crazy. AFterwards we walked up to Patrick and Tracys, where, as always, I was food oodles. Apparently she thinks I look underfed. which is funny, because I feel like I'm overfed. anyway, we went on a fruitless mission to find windows in my backyard. It sounds random, but I really thought they were there. It turns out they were screens. boo-rns for that. Tracy will have to continue in her efforts to find windows to make that greenhouse. Then Abram and I hung out at my house for a good long while.... more talking... I swear it's been ages since I had such a long talk w. someone in person. Saturday brought another coffee date. This time with Dana, who I haven't seen in about a month. She's been in Vancouver. *note to self, call dana*. It was fun, we did more sunshine basking and talking and reconnecting after a long absence. Then Dan and Elgin showed up randomly. yay for pink purses! anyway, they joined us and we sat in the sunshine and plotted the most absurd things For one, I've been thinking about joining Dans band to play the accordian. The fact that I don't actually know how to play the accordian is a non-issue. We also talked about what we would change out last name to if Dan and I got married. We're going to be "dan and jaden granola", the amalgamation of our last names... when put in combination with what I want to my name my future daughter, it's the funniest name ever. "Lola Banana Granola" hahahhaha.... and elgin and I are slowly becoming one person.... aka "Nelgin McK***h* ...tee hee... I got home and gave Abram a ring and we watched "the anniversary party". It's a great movie with Alam Cumming. It seemed all the actors in it had worked together before. I know that John Benjamin Hickey and Denis O'hare were in Cabaret with Alan Cumming. Then we went for a long walk that involved creamsicles.... mmm... ceamsicles.... anyway, it was oodles of fun....

April 12 04 - "al al al" - Elgin rings me up and wants to go for coffee. So we get together, head down to the harbour quay again. By now I sort of feel like an exceptionally lazy lizard. all this sunshine!. This is where I think we had the most fun. We spent an hour feeding pigeons. Which in and of itself sounds rather mundane, but once you get to know the pigeons....

They have a lot of character, you see and there are small things that set them apart physically. so without further ado

Dramatis Personae

George W - Thicker than two planks and really rather daring. He was also very gluttnous and ate more than the others.

Tumour - Had an unusual growth on back of neck. not really sure what happened.

Puffy - Would circle around Tumour, following him (her?) with a puffed out neck. possible mating ritual?

Farrah - named after miss fawcett... had fuzzy feathers that looked like v. fashionable boots all the way down legs.

Gimpy - The tragic figure in the play. Legs were bound together by a length of discarded fishing line. Had never seena bird trip before

Nelson - was the bully. ran after the other birds attempting to peck at them. a traumatizing childhood perhaps? bird needs a pet counseller, definintley

On the way home, we ran in to Dan and Sheldon and spen more than an hour (possibly closer to two) standing in front of Dales Gym being absurd once more. we decided to write a new musical based on Captain Planet (you remember him... he had a silver suit and a green mullet. was a cartoon in the early 90s). We made quite the spectacle of ourselves as we blocked some of the choreography right there on the sidewalk. This being Port Alberni, not many people drove by though.... We also found the most random note. "John, leaving for edmonton tonight. I hope you can find your way there by sea."... well.. it was v. likely it was actually "self"... but sea is funnier.... and it also included instructions to "read and destroy"... we are now setting up an e-mail account "yourfriendisbadatdestroyingthings@hotmail.com" and sending a message to the e mail addy that was included... will update re; fruits of this labour, if any.

hrmm... that's about all I want to write about... oh! the Canucks won their last game! the series is currently 2-1 in favour of Vancouver I'm v. happy about this. oh... hahahaha.... more... when I was at Dans later in the nite, Sheldon, Dan and I all played Pogs! yes, Pogs! you read that right... Pogs! It made me feel like I was 12. There were poison pogs and we had slammers (one of which read "God Rules") we had a good old time. I lost by one pog. (Final score; Dan - 12, Me - 11, Sheldon - 7).... and I took this personality test. I'm blue. So very blue. It means I'm communication / feeling oriented and have a good time helping others (possible career choice for a 'blue' person; rabbi. I think we all know what i'm going to be now.) So yeah... oodles of fun @ Dans house. come home v. late. had wierd dreams.
